Thanks to Jamie for the tip off - documentary "What's wrong with porn?" tonight at 9pm on radio1. I may tune in if I've got through this pile of revision by then - otherwise the website lets you listen again.

I'll be interested to see whether or not they actually go into the abuse/violence against women elements - this is not mentioned on the blurb for it on the website. I really REALLY hope they do, but considering the content of some of Radio 1's shows I'm pretty sceptical.
Well just had a listen. It's presented by Maggot (GLC)! On the whole it is a pretty balanced overview of the many arguments surrounding pornography. It covers objectification of women as well as individual exploitation, STIs, and pornification of society. There are contributions from object and scottish women against porn but probably more from people within the porn industry. Probably not of much interest to most people who read this blog but a good introduction to the arguments and I do think it's good that these issues are being discussed on radio1. I would advise anyone who listened to the pro-porn arguments to read this post "http://angryforareason.blogspot.com/2006/05/identity-politics-vs-feminism.html" at Angry for a Reason to gain an understanding of the politics behind the comments. Lol - bringing together TWO of your blogs dude... the big brother freaks were discussing "whats wrong with porn?". Nikki says she hates it cos its disgusting... and everyone else decided they quite liked it. I think it all kicked off because the Canadian guy was talking about male porn stars earning less. Im sure there was something very intelligent said but, as with all the live coverage, the audio got cut.
